TURNER WASKOM

16 NATIONAL HEAD COACH

Turner and his wife Jill have been longtime coaches in Central Oregon. Together they coached both Mountain View High School and Summit High School to the State Finals, winning the first volleyball State Championship in the city of Bend's history in 2011 at Summit, following it up with another title in 2015. Turner and Jill led Summit to top 5 finishes at the State Tournament in 14 out of their 16 years coaching at Summit, including 5 state final matches. During their tenure at Mountain View and Summit, they coached 5 players who were named Oregon Players of the Year (including their oldest daughter Jordan) and had numerous athletes go on to play at D1 and all levels of collegiate volleyball (including their youngest Jade who went on to play indoor and beach at Long Beach State).

Turner was previously the Executive Director of the Oregon Volleyball Academy and grew the club into the largest volleyball club in the state before merging with NPJ in 2018. Turner has coached club teams of all ages, including top finishes at CEVA Regionals and USAV Nationals, and serves as an assistant coach on NPJ 18 Forefront when time permits.

Turner is currently an Executive VP and Chief Lending Officer at Craft3, one of the largest Community Development Financial Institutions in the country. In his spare time, which is none, Turner and Jill enjoy caring for their 4 horses, miniature horse, two miniature donkeys, two dogs and five cats - all of which are rescue animals. Fun facts about Turner include that he speaks Russian in French, ghosts sit around the campfire telling Turner stories, Bigfoot once took a picture of Turner, Superman has pajamas with his logo, his passport requires no photograph, and sharks have a week dedicated to him. It's also rumored that when he meets the Pope, the Pope kisses his ring.
