PETE SANTUCCI
16-1 LOCAL HEAD COACH
As a kid in southern California, I grew up with volleyball, playing on the court across the street. Beach volleyball was all I played until my daughter Lydia started playing in elementary school. Since then, I have transitioned to indoor play and to coaching.
Over the past 15 years, I have coached for numerous schools and many club teams, especially for NPJ. I've coached a couple undefeated teams. But I'm especially proud of a team I inherited that went from no wins the year before to winning half of their games. Figuring out what motivates unique players and unique teams to lead them to success is a challenge I love as a coach.
I am a student of the game, relying less on the skills I learned volleyball myself and more on the what I’ve relearned through continual education about the game. This student-coach approach to the game has given me a good understanding of what best helps players learn the game. So, every player makes marked improvements during a season of play with me.
Along with winning a lot of games, making significant technical improvement, and learning teamwork, my players always have a lot of fun, because I have a lot of fun coaching them. That fun is what has kept me playing and coaching the game!
