Our Summer Volleyball Academy is built for athletes ages 12+ who want to improve their skills in a fun, supportive, and athlete centered training environment. Registration is divided into Beginner and Intermediate groups to ensure athletes are training with peers at a similar stage of development. Beginner players are newer to the game or have limited playing experience, while Intermediate players have multiple seasons of experience and are ready to deepen their skills and understanding of the game. This program is a great fit for athletes who want to play for their school, continue progressing in club volleyball, and see the sport as a long term pursuit without losing the social and enjoyment side of the game.
Across both levels, our coaching philosophy prioritizes skill development over competition or results. Coaches actively seek athlete feedback, use simple and positive instruction, and adapt activities to meet players where they are while still challenging them to grow. Unsuccessful attempts are treated as learning opportunities, confidence is intentionally built, and having fun remains the primary focus, creating an environment where athletes stay motivated, engaged, and excited to keep getting better.
Our coaches regularly seek feedback from participants and ask for their input on what they want to work on. Engaging participants in the decision-making process is part of our athlete-centered coaching philosophy, and helps us draw out maximal effort, interest, motivation, and engagement from each participant. Our coaches are trained to meet players where they are at, while helping them find the inner desire, passion, and persistence that is needed to get good at something. Having fun is still the primary focus. Skill development is emphasized over competition or results. Activities are adapted or modified where appropriate to promote success, build confidence, and stretch current abilities.
- Feedback is kept simple and focused on what changes need to be made rather than on what was done incorrectly.
- Our coaches use positive feedback so that unsuccessful attempts are viewed as learning and not as failure situations.
- Our coaches adjust the learning environments to match the capabilities of the participants. This has been shown to have a strong and positive influence on their “readiness” to acquire new skills.
